SWITEZIANKI

Musical and poetic journey to the Nowogródek (Navahrudak), to the Świteź lake, to the heart of Lithuanian woods, where the beautiful daemons of Świteż, Rusalkas and Dziwożonas, lurk for the travellers. The romantic "Ballads and Romances" of Adam Mickiewicz mixed with original music and singing present their new face. The music - created as contrafactum, based on the old songs from Kresy Wschodnie, from the areas of Nowogródek, Lida, Vilnius, Kaunas and Volyn, coming from Oskar Kolberg`s collection; it also encompasses the compositions of Stanisław Moniuszko, songs from the Seklucjan`s hymnbook with texts by Andrzej Trzecieski and Mikołaj Rej, song from Jan of Lublin`s organ tablature and 19-century salon dances: polka and waltz.

KRAKOWIANY, KRAKOWIANY!

Screenplay is based on old songs of village people in Krakow region, from rich Oskar Kolberg's collection - in new original arrangements. In musical occur also songs with Karol Kurpiński's and Jan Stefani's music, with libretto of Jan Nepomucen Kamiński and Wojciech Bogusławski.

STABAT MATER

It is an original combination of music by Antonio Vivaldi and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, with the elements of acting, stage movement composition, original costumes and decorations. The performance is delightful because of its sacred music - expressive and beautiful in its simplicity, full of poetry and emotions, characteristic for the Neapolitan opera of 18 c. THE NUTCRACKER AND THE MOUSE KING

An unusual musical fable for children and adults, based on the novel by the German writer and poet of the Romantic era, Ernest Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann. Action of this fable takes place on Christmas Eve. Among many gifts, Maria receives a wooden nutcracker, who, after numerous adventures, turns into a beautiful prince from the land of fairy tales and sweets, taking Maria on a journey to his kingdom.

ICH GEH’ UND SUCHE

Johann Sebastian Bach's stage cantata "Ich geh'und suche" is a sublime combination of music and singing, with elements of acting, stage movement compositions and original costumes. The musical tissue is based on the masterful cantatas of J.S. Bach - selected fragments, ranging from BMV 155 "Mein Gott wie lang, ach lange", through BMV 103, 32 to BMV 49 „Ich geh’ und suche mit Verlangen” (I walk and search with longing desire). The elaborate vocal and instrumental parts are enhanced by dialogues led by actresses (excerpts from the Book of Psalms).

DIE SCHULDIEGKEIT DES ERSTEN GEBOTS

Due to the structure of the libretto, it is a morality play showing the struggle of the forces of good and evil for the soul of man. The protagonist of the Mozart's morality play is Everyman, "Everyone", that is, a sleeping Christian, whose soul is constantly fought by allegorical figures: Mercy, Justice, the Christian Spirit and the Spirit of the Temporal World. In a purely musical sense, it is a singspiel - a genre in which vocal fragments (arias) are separated by spoken dialogues (recitatives). The music of Mozart's "Duty of the First Commandment" surprises with high technical maturity and places high demands on both singers and instrumentalists.

ZAIDE

The oriental theme with the inseparable harem intrigue: The story of a captive woman, the bride of the sultan Soliman, who is secretly in love with a slave Gomatz. The young lovers decide to elope, helped by the sultan`s trustee. One can find many traces of Mozart`s style in Zaide`s music. It perfectly describes the characters from libretto and gives the soloist an opportunity to display their vocal skills.

CHATSKELE, CHATSKELE !

Old Jewish songs from the rich collection of folk songs in Yiddish, in new, original arrangements - love songs, wedding songs, feast songs, lullabies and popular songs. The spectacle is accompanied by precisely designed sequences of pictures: the performance includes not only Yiddish songs, but also the klezmer music and elements of traditional Jewish dances. The skill of the director is seen mostly in the discipline of its form, due to which what we see on stage is a refined and colourful spectacle. The show was particularly interesting for because of its successful extraction of its dramatic values. The spectator is overwhelmed not only by the musical tone, but also by the atmosphere of the story and the passion in the gestures. It is the naturalness and sensuality regained, the defence of life, the awe, joy and loneliness of devotion. The spiritual dimension of “Chatskele, chatskele” is determined by the captivating beauty of simplicity, elegance and proportion. Krakow Chamber Opera manages not only to survive, but also to remain what it was from the beginning – and, in addition, to prove its undeniable and unique position of the theatre that draws the connoisseurs of ambitious art.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

A musical fable for children and adults, according to the fable of the French Baroque fairy tale writer Charles Perrault. An amazing story about a beautiful Princess who, as a result of a cruel prophecy of the Fire Fairy, fell into a hundred-year sleep. The Water Fairy softened the evil spell by promising that after a hundred years a young man from the royal family would appear, who would bring the Princess back to life. The show delights with acting, interesting and colorful costumes and wonderfully selected music, played and sung live. Intelligent wit and playing with convention will satisfy both the younger and the older part of the audience.

LA SERVA PADRONA

The most famous work of Giovanni B. Pergolesi. A funny story of a master henpecked by his maid, who decides to end the ruthless regime by getting married, hoping that wife will be able to bring order to his household and control the servants. However, the clever servant makes her master marry herself. The performance features stylish costumes, interesting characters and tich musical tissue, which presents an excellent opportunity for the vocal display of the solists.

SATIRO E CORISCA

Early baroque opera comica by the Italian composer working on the court of king Sigismund III Vasa in Warsaw: witty satire on the female cunning, based on the sparkling emotional game between the Satyr and the nymph Corisca; and the king`s court in the contemporary dances.

SONG OF SONGS OF THE KING OF SALOMON

One of the most beautiful eroticists in world literature, to whom an allegorical, even mystical, meaning is attributed. The scenario of the show is based on the biblical text (Old Testament). The authorship of "Songs of Songs", which grew out of the old folk tradition of wedding songs, is attributed to King Solomon. Each phrase of "Song of Songs" breathes joy in life and is a hymn to the glory of the purest, most sublime feeling, which is love in its human dimension - feminine and masculine, from birth, through its maturation, to triumphant fulfillment.

BASTIEN UND BASTIENNE

An idyllic tale of love. Bastienne, suspecting that her lover Bastien is being unfaithful to her, ask a soothsayer Colas for help. He arranges for the lovers to confront each other. A juvenile work by W.A. Mozart, it has been composed in 1768 on the order of a famous Viennese physician – Antonio Mesmer, a proponent of the so-called ‘animal magnetism’. The prototype of its storyline was an opera comique ‘Le devin du village’ (‘A Village Soothsayer’) by the French philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau.

LIVIETTA E TRACOLLO

True musical pearl by the famous Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. It is also known as "La finta Polacca" ("False Polish Woman"). The title refers to the text of libretto by Tommaso Mariani, in which the clever Tracollo, disguised as the poor Polish woman, robs the house of the cousin of the heroine - Livietta. Livietta decides to take revenge. Plot full of humour; singular and vivid characters; rich musical fabric, emphasizing the dynamic plot. The libretto presents an excellent opportunity for the vocal display of the soloists' skill.
